the death of proprietary im
May. 11th, 2007 | 08:41 pm
i've just got a system message after logging in to yahoo! that went something like "now you can save your conversations on your yahoo! account, where you can later view them like email!". sound familiar?
given the yahoo! - msn messenger promiscuity of late, i'm guessing they're starting to notice the cows are leaving for greener pastures. i can only hope that they die a very slow and very painful death (especially msn, which is probably the worst network protocol of any kind i've ever seen) for all the grief they gave over the past decade or so.

so... it's an im server. exciting, isn't it? either they do something big with it (and perhaps even give xmpp a much needed shot of adrenaline) or they can fuck off.
